Coastal Waters Forecast
National Weather Service Baltimore MD/Washington DC
FOR THE TIDAL POTOMAC AND MD PORTION OF THE CHESAPEAKE BAY.
Tidal Potomac River and Maryland portion of Chesapeake Bay. Forecasts of wave heights do not include effects of wind direction relative to tidal currents. Expect higher waves when winds are blowing against the tidal flow. Waves flat where waters are iced over. Brief high pressure is forecast across the waters this afternoon before low pressure develops to the south across the Carolinas late tonight into Sunday. Low pressure will continue to strengthen as it sits off the Delmarva coast Sunday night into Monday morning leading to gale conditions over the local waters. Brief high pressure returns from the south Monday afternoon into Tuesday with another front set to cross the waters mid next week. Gale Watches are in effect late Sunday into Monday with Small Craft Advisories likely needed Monday into Tuesday next week.
