Coastal Waters Forecast for Texas
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
For High Island to the Matagorda Ship Channel Out 60 NM including Galveston and Matagorda Bays.
Upper Texas coastal waters from High Island to the Matagorda Ship Channel out 60 nautical miles including Galveston and Matagorda Bays. Seas are provided as a range of the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves.along with the occasional height of the average highest 10 percent of the waves. Shower and thunderstorm activity is expected once again today, particularly over the Gulf waters. Heavy rain, frequent lightning, and locally strong wind gusts are once again a concern today. Despite the heaviest activity likely occurring offshore, mariners in the bays should remain cognizant of the possibility of some scattered heavy storms closer to the coast. Northeast winds will eventually return to a more southeast direction by Monday or Tuesday, and increase in speed. The next disturbance could bring additional rain and thunderstorms to the upper Texas coast from the west Tuesday night or Wednesday.
