Coastal Waters Forecast for Texas
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
For High Island to the Matagorda Ship Channel Out 60 NM including Galveston and Matagorda Bays.
Upper Texas coastal waters from High Island to the Matagorda Ship Channel out 60 nautical miles including Galveston and Matagorda Bays. Seas are provided as a range of the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves.along with the occasional height of the average highest 10 percent of the waves. Moderate east winds will persist behind the large cluster of storms that passed through earlier in the day. Speeds should gradually diminish after midnight. Though some scattered showers and isolated storms are possible this evening, chances are fairly low. Expect another cluster of storms to develop, more likely in the Gulf waters beyond about 15nm offshore late tonight and Sunday morning. They could be strong at times. Otherwise, overall threat of significant weather should be quite a bit lower for the remainder of the holiday weekend. It's not eliminated, so mariners should still be sure to check the weather before venturing off the dock. East and northeast winds will swing back around to the southeast and increase in speed early next week. Another storm system is forecast to pass into the waters Tuesday night or Wednesday.
