Coastal Waters Forecast for Texas
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
For High Island to the Matagorda Ship Channel Out 60 NM including Galveston and Matagorda Bays.
Upper Texas coastal waters from High Island to the Matagorda Ship Channel out 60 nautical miles including Galveston and Matagorda Bays. Seas are provided as a range of the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves.along with the occasional height of the average highest 10 percent of the waves. Stronger winds around 20 knots with gusts to 30 knots have been observed across the lower portions of Galveston Bay and near the adjacent coastal waters. Waves heights in the lower bays are reportedly near 2-3 feet. While winds and seas should improve later tonight, becoming calmer around or after midnight, mariners should exercise caution as these hazardous conditions persist. Rain chances taper off tonight, though storm chances will continue throughout the week. An extended fetch of moderate southeasterly winds around midweek will likely lead to another round of increased seas, especially in the offshore Gulf waters. Water levels are expected to remain near 3.0 feet above Mean Lower Low Water during high tide cycles through at least the end of the work week.
