Coastal Waters Forecast for Texas
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
For High Island to the Matagorda Ship Channel Out 60 NM including Galveston and Matagorda Bays.
Upper Texas coastal waters from High Island to the Matagorda Ship Channel out 60 nautical miles including Galveston and Matagorda Bays. Seas are provided as a range of the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves.along with the occasional height of the average highest 10 percent of the waves. A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect as intermittent periods of sea fog will continue into Friday morning. In general, modest improvement should be seen through the day, with less dense fog remaining across the waters. Some guidance suggests dense fog may linger into the afternoon on Matagorda Bay - if that does occur, an extension of the advisory there may be necessary. An Arctic cold front is expected to push into the coastal waters early Saturday morning bringing a much colder airmass, strong north winds and building seas this weekend. Periods of precipitation are anticipated into Sunday with the potential for freezing rain in and around the bays Sunday morning. Mariners are advised to keep up with the latest forecasts.
